The 6th period is :
  • Original creative projects for discovering Quebec contemporary art

  • A variety of physical activities based on the pleasure of moving

  • An hour of activities that are free and hosted by the LDT Foundation team every week for 12 weeks during the school year

  • For children in grades 5th and 6th

  • On the premises of the participating schools

The features
The only one of its kind
Innovation

By offering varied and complementary extracurricular activities, we invite children to explore different aspects of art and sports in the same program. A first in Quebec!

Constant presence

The 6th period is deployed over a 12-week period during the school year with the goal of providing sustained guidance to a single cohort of students, thus encouraging a significant change.

Equity

Because access to art and sports is not equal in the province’s elementary schools, we promote equity by offering our activities in the most vulnerable communities.

Inclusion

We favour an inclusive approach that takes the plural realities of young people into consideration. Our activities are accessible to all, as we impose no selection criteria beforehand and charge no participation fees.

Quality

Our educational offer is updated every year! Our pedagogical content is designed in collaboration with experts in cultural mediation, sports education, and pedagogy.

The values
Curiosity
We encourage kids to try new activities that take them out of their comfort zone.
Pleasure
Our educational workshops rely first and foremost on the pleasure of learning!
Kindness
Our animation team is trained to guide kids with respect and empathy.
Personal achievement
We offer realistic and stimulating challenges that encourage skill development and personal learning rather than competition among participants.

Our animation team
Inspired and inspiring

Inspiring our youth takes inspiring models! The animation and coordination team for The 6th period is formed following a careful selection process during which we find student athletes and cultural mediators from across the province. What they share is a desire to impart their passion for art and sports to the next generation.
